Art Instructor - Purpose of Position

Aid in implementation and oversight of art program, help encourage, support, campers and staff concerning art program, work side by side with the Art Director to help plan art program activities and ensure successful implementation of programmed activities

Specific Responsibilities

• Aid in coordination of all activities in Creative Arts Center with Art Director.
• Oversee teaching of ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture and creative arts
• Teach campers between the ages of 8 and 12 to appreciate art
• Aid Art Director in organization and maintenance of creative arts facility and equipment including complete safety checks
• Help supervise free time activities for campers interested in CA
• Help Art Director complete a post-summer written creative arts report

Essential Functions

• Communicate to campers and counselors regarding safety regulations and emergency procedures specific to the Art Center
• Communicate and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff
• Visually and audibly identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to camp activities
• Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques
