| Frederick
Douglas once said, It
is better to build strong children
than repair broken men.
Wildwood Hills Ranch works to
build strong positive leaders
with each youth that participates
in one of our leadership programs.
We focus on strengthening character
and leadership development in
all areas of camp- horses, team
building, art and aquatics.
With each program the youth
are involved, they learn, apply
and debrief the specific skills
we are working to develop. |

| CHARACTER
COUNTS! In Iowa is a project
of the Institute for Character
Development (ICD) at Drake University.
Their Mission is to recognize,
enhance and sustain the positive
qualities of Iowans in order
to promote civility through
character development.
Wildwood collaborates with the
Institute for Character Development
to incorporate Character Counts!
into every aspect of programming
at the ranch. Our curriculum
is rooted in the Six Pillars
of Character: Trustworthiness
- Respect - Responsibility -
Fairness - Caring - Citizenship
|
 |
| The
Character Counts! framework
is a process of teaching,
encouraging, advocating,
and modeling that these
six universal values are
important in all areas
of life in a community.
